IsraeliJazz project
The IsraeliJazz project was initiated by French photographer Raphael Perez in 2018, developed in 2020 and launched in October 2022 during a first exhibition in Tel Aviv.
The project presents Israeli jazz as it is today, as well as the history of its beginnings in the 1930s and its evolution since. This is a multimedia project that will combine an art book, events and exhibition series with a website and social media.
- The IsraeliJazz book will be printed in two languages and published globally in early 2024,
- A series of photographic exhibitions with a launch in Tel Aviv in October 2022, a second in Paris in April/May 2023 and a current one in Juan Les Pins in July/August 2023,
- An online presence through a new website to be launched in early 2024, offering live streaming and updates of book content, as well as via social media.
The aim of the project is to tell the story of the beginnings of jazz in Israel and how this country became a major player on the jazz scene, with several hundred professional musicians performing globally.
Le travail a été soutenu par des recherches menées par Raphael Perez en collaboration avec des spécialistes de la musicologie américain et israélien, ainsi que par son propre travail photographique.
